National Space Centre
Space for education, education for space: The National Space Academy provides education programmes built around schools’ curricula in the sciences and maths using Space as an inspirational context. It offers day-long masterclasses (for all abilities) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Applied Science. The National Space Academy boosts teacher subject knowledge and confidence, and enhances pedagogic skills through innovative CPD sessions. Student programmes and CPD sessions can be delivered at the National Space Centre in Leicester or locally in your school.
Courses include hands-on activities and engaging demonstrations, scientific investigations and up-to-date information on UK Space Agency and European Space Agency (ESA) activities and missions. Teacher CPD is designed to provide classroom-ready activities which are low cost, flexible, and extremely curriculum relevant. Student masterclasses can be directed at different levels/abilities at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and can be delivered as revision classes, focussed on specific curriculum topics, used to stretch more able pupils or to engage students at grade border lines. The best way to find out what we can offer you is to talk to us, so please get in touch.
The long term goal of the National Space Academy is to materially enhance the UK skills pool in science and engineering, and to widen public and schools awareness of the UK space sector and associated careers, through sharing a passion and interest in space and how space research and technology affects our daily lives.
